David Catalán Spring/Summer 2025 Collection: 1974

David Catalán’s S/S25 collection, “1974,” delves into the rich tapestry of Portuguese traditions, presenting an avant-garde fusion that’s as historical as it is contemporary. Drawing inspiration from a pivotal moment in Portuguese history, the collection marries traditional cotton lace and delicate lacework with bold camouflage fabrics, a nod to the April 25, 1974, Carnation Revolution’s troops. The juxtaposition creates a visual narrative steeped in heritage and resilience.

Denim, a hallmark of the brand, makes a strong comeback, taking centre stage in this season’s lineup. Expect iconic pieces reimagined with meticulous details inspired by utilitarian aprons with pouch pockets, providing both functionality and flair.

The silhouette is unmistakably youthful, urban, and effortlessly comfortable. The colour scheme is a vibrant tribute to the Portuguese flag, blending reds, greens, and whites to evoke a sense of national pride.

This collection is a heartfelt homage to Portuguese tradition.

A short film by Gabriel Macedo beautifully captures the essence of this collection, featuring model Diogo Dias. The creative team includes Barbara Bosque on hair and makeup, assistants Diogo Rodrigues and Beatriz Fonseca, and casting director Paulo Cravo.
